BlankHello Everyone For those of you who are really stuck with finding dates of births, marriages and deaths - have you ever tried looking through the Government Gazette which was published weekly in Cape Town from 1803 until present ? This is the most amazing paper. With items such as deserters from the Army giving the chaps name, age, height, hair colour eye colour, distinguished marks and tattoo's this is in the paper. Also includes ships passenger lists - not the big ships with 70 passengers or more but the small ones of about up to twenty passengers. Also includes lost pets, sheep, cows etc Also includes baptisms, marriages and deaths from St. Mary's, St, Georges, Union Congregational Church, St. Paul's in Rondebosch and churches in Simonstown, It then also has the Dutch section includes also baptisms, marriages and deaths but from the NG and Lutheran churches. For the year of 1850 found over 100 immigrants mentioned.... there is so much more............. Please note that the modern editions do not contain all these lost people and animals !!
