Hi Elva, Thanks so much for your kind thoughts. Yes, I am sure this is my husbands family, as ll the names tie up and the dates are right too. Petrus only had one brother younger than him and that was Daniel, but it is strange that he is not on this list with the rest of the family. I am going to forward you another Anthonie Christoffel Nortje family, that I got from a chap in South Africa, but the dates didn't tie up, but now I think it is all part of this family. What do you think?? I am sending it by seperate email - Subject: Nortje x Roach. Hope this finds you well. I am feeling much better today, we had a little Memorial Service for my Mum yesterday with work mates and friends and it was really lovely. They went to so much effort putting it all together in only one day. The people on Tamborine Mountain are really special. Take care, and thanks for all your help. Hello Carol Antonie Christoffel Ernst NORTJIE was born in Janssenville and Susannah Rhodes. There children were: Antonie Christoffel Ernst Lourens Wilfred James Susanna Johanna this info comes from SA Genealogies - I then went back one more generation and found another Antonie Nortjie also married to a Susannah Rhodes. I then checked out the ROACH and found this entry: Susannah ROACH born 14/11/1831 married abt 1854 to Antonie Christoffel Ernst NORTJIE and he was baptised on 15/5/1825 and he was the son of Johannes NORTJIE and Cornelia Aletta Rautenbach. Now Susannah father James Roach was born in Tipperary Ireland on 18/11/1790 and arrived in South Africa in 1819 as a soldier of the Royal African Corps. He was also a farmer on 'Alewynsfontein" in Jansenville. He was the son of Lourence Roach and Maria Roach. James married Anna Sophia FRITS (born 13/9/1806 and bapt. 18/10/1807 Graaf Reniet) he died on 5/7/1859 and she died around 1870. She was the daughter of David Frits and Elsje Elizabeth GRAAF. Hope this has added a few more branches to the tree. Heather's South African Genealogy Help List at www.genealogy.co.za is soon due to be re-vamped and re-launched.
