Thank you, Elva. I've been finding bits and pieces on the internet too - a delicious picture of Napoleon leaning on a spade like any other retired chap pottering in the garden. Unbelievable! I'll see if the local library can find the book - but lately I find that when I walk in with my list of books the staff somehow all seem to be on coffee!!!
