    3. Hi Ivy, I have just recently read The Emperor's Last Island - a Journey to St Helena, by Julia Blackburn. This book covers Napoleon's 6 years in exile and there is a very in-depth description of Longwood throughout. Regards, Elva

    3. Thank you, Elva. I've been finding bits and pieces on the internet too - a delicious picture of Napoleon leaning on a spade like any other retired chap pottering in the garden. Unbelievable! I'll see if the local library can find the book - but lately I find that when I walk in with my list of books the staff somehow all seem to be on coffee!!! Only joking - they try to help, bless them, but so little is available somehow. There's always amazon.com, though - another internet treasure. We do have fun, don't we? Help appreciated. Go well!
