Posting this Site re the loss of the S S Ceramic in 1942. There were military and civilian passengers aboard. Many of the passengers on board were South Africans returning to their homes. The ship was torpedoed and there was only one survivor who was taken aboard the German submarine when it returned to the site of the attack - all other survivors were left to perish.
