I do not have very much information but I am looking for any COX descendants that may be around in the Cape Town area. My grandparents were Ludwig Gerhard COX b. 30th Nov.1898, S.Africa. Died 16th Feb.1979, England and Johanna Susarah Hendrika ? b. 1st. April, 1898, S Africa. Died 27th Oct. 1971, England. I recently obtained my parents marriage certificate which shows my grandfather as Leslie COX....(I assume this was anglicised because of the war) occupation hairdresser. My mother was Una Johanna Sophia COX b. 27 June 1925. d. 30th Oct. 1980. The marriage took place in the Methodist Church Claremont and my Grandparent's address was 45, Main Road Claremont in 1944, although I always knew it as Main Street, Newlands My question is where do I go from here? Should I try to get hold of my Mother's birth certificate and my grandparents marriage certificate although I have no idea when or where they were married, if so, is it possible to do so from England? I assume I should contact South Africa house in London. Does anyone remember a gent's hairdresser in Claremont? My grandfather would have been there presumably until they came to England in the early 60's. My mother's sister, Sally Harper had a cabin cruiser that took trips to seal island. I vaguely remember a paper cutting from the Cape Argus showing a photo of the Sadlers Wells ballet company taking a trip. My apologies for the length of this posting but I am clutching at straws. I would be grateful for any snippet of information. There are photos of my grandparents on my website. Also on this page if anyone is interested there is a photograph of the Cape Technical College Cricket Club Team 1950 -1951, my Uncle Llewellyn Harper is Vice Captain.
