Visiting St. Paul's cemetary I noticed the grave of WILLIAM JOHN ROBERTS, late Manager of the Salt River WOrks and late Capt. of the Salt River Company of the DEOV Rifles - the DEOV is I hope correct - and took a photograph along with another of the grave of JOHN ROBERTSON who died at Delville Wood. If anyone is interested I can forward the pictures by e-mail. Go well! Ivy Trott.

Hi Ivy, DEOV = Duke of Edinburgh's Own Volunteer Rifles now more commonly known as "The Dukes". They have undergone quite a few name changes in their history. Where is the St Paul's cemetery and is it the St Paul's from Bree Street in CT? I would be very interested in visiting it. I find it highly unusual that there is a grave of someone who died at Delville Wood, it is more likely to be a memorial. I can find no record of a John ROBERTSON either in the roll call of South Africans taking part in or the Roll of Honour of Delville Wood. I would suggest that if you are researching the ROBERTSON that you check the detail with the CWGC on their website.
