    3. The man I am trying to trace is RICHARD BOOKER BIDENCOPE, whose family are well-known in Hobart, Tasmania. Not much is known about Richard, however. He seems to have been living at White Horse, Strand Street, Cape Town and joined the Scotts Railway Guards. I am sure that I can get his army papers and find out where he was wounded. Not sure if he volunteered simply because he was living in Cape Town, or whether he came with that purpose in mind. He returned to the Cape Town address after being shot and wounded, and on recovery, rejoined the army as a trooper. He eventually returned to Tasmania but nobody in the family knew anything much about this, and certainly don't have his medals. I haven't been to Cape Town for ages, but have a recollection of a building with a white horse's head on it - but was it in Strand Street? Just hope some local historian knows something about the building. Thank you, and go well! Ivy Trott. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 3. Hi Ivy As far as I can ascertain, the establishment was not the White Horse Inn but the White House Hotel and it was situated on the corner of Strand and Long Street (no 46).
