Hi Steve The Cape Town Archives has a copy of most of the Cape Almanacs but you would have to access them somehow. They were directories of all prominent features of life in the Colony - They make very interesting reading. You can also have a look at http://www.sagenealogy.co.za/Scribes.htm for more detail.
