Hi Kevin, I can't help you with Request No. 1 as my access only covers the years 1890 to 1960. As regards Request No. 2, there's only one direct match on a Samuel, but that's to Cape Town and several of a Mr S. BAXTER, only one of which is to East London. I might add at this point that there are another 30 or so with no forename or initial, so the whole thing depends on whether you can match an age or occupation! Anyway, here's the most likely ones:- Mr Samuel BAXTER - labourer - 25 - single 2 May 1894, London to Cape Town, ss RUAHINE Mr S. BAXTER - draper - 22 - single 1 Feb 1896, Southampton to East London, ss TARTAR Mr S. BAXTER - mason - 28 - single 22 Oct 1900, London to Cape Town, ss SOPHOCLES Mr S. BAXTER - married but travelling alone 11 May 1901, Southampton to Cape Town, ss GAIKA Mr S. BAXTER - police - 24 - single - Scottish 29 Nov 1902, Southampton to Cape Town, ss GASCON Mr S., BAXTER - brass finisher - 29 - single 13 Jun 1903, Southampton to Port Natal, ss GASCON Regards, Maurice Sheppard at The LONGMORE Pages http://www.msheppard.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Baxter" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, August 10, 2010 2:14 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTH-AFRICA-CAPE-TOWN] Ships passenger lists 1912 > Can anyone help me please ? > > I am looking for ship passenger lists sailing from UK (Southampton or > London) to South Africa (East London or Port Elizabeth) for : > > 1) Frederick William Baxter --- believed to have sailed between 1875 and > 1885 > > 2) Samuel Baxter --- believed to have sailed 1892 - 1902 > > > Assistance greatly appreciated > > Kevin Baxter > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of > Maurice Sheppard > Sent: 10 August 2010 12:20 > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [SOUTH-AFRICA-CAPE-TOWN] Ships passenger lists 1912 > > Hi Mark, > > Yes, that is correct - there was only one 1912 sailing from the UK to > South > Africa.
