    3. Hi Tombi and all, Perhaps my note was wanting. The note was aimed primarily at the Afrikaans lists who do not normally like one to post messages in English. What I have taken to do, every time I get a message from NAAIRS that they have a problem, I take a screen shot and forward it to them, hence their reply, which is now standard. It at least elicits a response. More people should nail them each time there is a problem. Maybe they will eventually sort it out. Thanks for pointing that out...have now read and will inwardly digest... Sorry Colin.....shouted before I was hurt! Please accept my apology...I should have known better! I USED to be fully tweetalig as a teenager but 40 years living in the U.K. has left me able to read it and listen easily but sukkel to find words...and the effort of getting the word order correct.... It appears that unforeseen probelsm were experienced in the system which endured until a short while ago. NAAIRS is currently accessible. Aside from this, I regret that the problem of NAAIRS not being accessible has been occurring ("All Search Manager User IDs in use"), especially after normal working hours. In normal circumstances, NAAIRS should be freely accessible to any web user. It sometimes happens that the system does not properly terminate individual users' search sessions, and consequently over time the maximum limit on the number of users is exceeded, and the system then prevents new users from signing on. This problem requires the external service provider SITA to "recycle" or restart the support system to free up the user IDs. As this problem also occurs after hours and over weekends it is then not rectified as soon as we would like. The National Archives has been engaging SITA vigorously towards finding a permanent solution. We regret the impact on service delivery that the non-availability of NAAIRS has within archives repositories and to the public. Every effort is being made on our side to resolve the problem of accessibility and we hope that this explanation will help to place the matter in perspective. You are welcome to let us know whenever the problem occurs so that we can track its occurrence. 1. [SOUTH-AFRICA-CAPE-TOWN] Re that famous red NAAIRS message.
    2. Gwen Doyle
    3. Hi, Nail them I did over the week end due to trying to work from Australia and getting that silly ID users message. So got to work and composed a very proper English email because my Afrikaans was never a spoken language other then school lessons 55 odd years ago. Nearly fell over when I got the reply this afternoon, mind you the standard reply everyone else has received but this is the first time they have replied to me. So all I can say is Thank You Mr. Clive Kirkwood. I hope you are the broom which sweeps the Archieves clean and makes researching S.A. ancestors from down-under a lot more free from silly little red messages popping up on ones screen. May he will be the one to set out and computerise all BMD too. Oh would that not be wonderful. A system like the UK Archieves. A dream. Keep on dreaming for a NAAIRS site which does what other places already do. It may happen ?..... ??? ....
