Can anyone suggest where I should look for the birth of Jack Howard VINCENT, born in Capetown in 1872. His father, Cecil, was supposedly an officer in the Indian Army, and his mother, Ellen nee HOPE, died in childbirth. I have been unable to trace him until he came to New Zealand in about 1896 and the above details are from information he gave his family, but I SUPSECT he was guilty of that 'romantic memory' that some of our forebears indulged in!
