Once again I am trying to trace the Ashley family history. Have through Ancestry 24 managed to pick up quite a bit of information which is great but seem to have come to a halt. According to my Grandfather's (Edwin Langford) Death Notice his mother was Jane Maria Woodward Ashley (nee Shearer). She married Clement Walter in May 1877 and information I have managed to find is that she had 5 children (Clement Charles, George Stanley, Maud, Sydney William and Constance). Constance Ashley married Percival White Honnet whom we were told was our grandfather's sister. Jane Maria Woodward Ashley married Harry Coomber (unable to find out when) and they had a son Lewis Woodward on 17 June 1898 and apparently the marriage was dissolved about 1903 and she changed Lewis Woodward's surname from Coomber to Ashley. Edward Langford Ashley was born, from what we can gather from the death notice, around about October 1897 and this is where we cannot fit the pieces as not having exact the exact date of his birth makes it difficult o work out as there seems to be only 8 months between the two, and unless he was born prematurely could not have been her child and yet the death notice says mother.
