My uncle John William (Jack) Jane was born in Wandsworth, Surrey, UK, in 1901. I have found him on the 1911 census, aged 10 and living with the rest of his family. However, after that he seems to disappear. No marriage or death has come to light, and an older cousin always said he seemed to disappear. No-one knew where he was. Going through immigration lists I have found a Mr. J.W. Jane on the Glengorm Castle leaving Plymouth for Mozambique in January 1929. He seems to be with a group, all carpenters bound for Cape Town. His last address is just given as Director of Sea Transport Admiralty. Assisted passage? Is this he, and do I have relations in Cape Town?? Is it possible to find census details for Cape Town in the 1930’s, and also marriage and death records? Thanks for any assistance. Maisie
