Thanks very much Rose, someone else mentioned him as well! Quite fascinating how the links keep on coming. Many, many years ago (before I was married) I worked in a pharmacy (I was the resident beautician at the time) but got involved on the medicine side as I can't just hang around doing nothing...I can still say "take two tablets three times a day" in Zulu - and that's 50 years later!! My interest stood me in good stead as I later worked for the Mines Benefit Society in the typing puddle...one day the Chief Pharmasist sent down for a shorthand typist....my shorthand was never tops but as I was the only person in the 'puddle' who could take shorthand (all the secretaries were tied up) I went down....after a bit the guy said....."you aren't asking about the spelling?"...I explained I'd worked in a pharmacy and what he'd been dictating was familiar......the next day the Chief Medical Officer sent for me by name...(the secretaries were not amused!),,,,it transpired that because of my grasp of medical terms and medicines it made their work much easier....to the horror of the secretaries I was promoted!! Not long afterwards I became pregnant and in due course left to have my eldest daughter...who is fast approaching 50!!
