Good day All Is anyone researching the surname LEY? This surname appears in my tree and I have discovered many interesting facts about the early LEYs but cannot find the link that ties Catharine Johanna LEY to Frank DE ROOS (married c 1870s). Would love to hear from anyone who might be able to help. Hello all, This is a long shot but........ I am looking to confirm a family tradition that my SOBOIL ancestors, Morris and Lillian, died in Whittlesea in the Eastern Cape and were buried there, or perhaps in another place close by (Queenstown?). Is there anyone out there who has access to burial records of this cemetery or has any information about the SOBOIL family? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Peter Zinn

Found it on the IGI, Sharon. First time I've seen anything but Caryn Torr's submissions, and suspect put in by a member of the Newton family, the descendents of a cousin who went to Salt Lake City after becoming a Mormon. The names are odd, aren't they? I just wondered if there might be some nickname sort of explanation before I tried to find out more.... Thanks for the reply. Appreciated. Go well! Ivy.
Hi Ivy How sure are you of the spelling of these strange names? I was wondering if the Mop might not be MOL? Also, I have seen the name MONG in the 1805 Cape Almanac as an official at the Cape of Good Hope - he is a Frederick MONG who was a 'Bode' in the Drosdty of Tulbagh.
