Anyone descended from a TAPSCOTT emigrant to South Africa, please get in touch. I know there was a family in the Kimberley area which originated in Somerset. 1. On-line death notice template
    2. Heather MacAlister
    3. Afternoon all Familytree.co.za is pleased to announce their latest addition to their web site which is their new 'death notice template" This facility will enable all of us to share those hundreds and thousands of death notices which we have filed away at home and can now make them available to everyone. By simply entering the information on the template and clicking the "send" button, this information will be sent straight to a database and then uploaded onto the website on a daily basis. The National Archives are "over the moon" with this new concept as it will ease the strain on the staff at the various archives and most importantly the preservation of these documents, which are deteriorating at an alarming rate. There is also a downloadable excel template for those people who have large amounts of these documents. The url for the death notice is http://www.familytree.co.za/Secure/tools_treebuilder.aspx kind regards Heather Visit South Africa's Premier Genealogy Web Sites www.ancestry.mweb.co.za and www.familytree.co.za Join the Cape Town Family History Society www.ancestors.co.za/society/socweb.htm

    2. Ivy Trott
    3. The IGI seems to be adding lots of South African names at the moment, and have been happy to find some family links. Is anybody researching the MEYER family represented by PIETER J. MEYER, born about 1750 in Stellenbosch who married ANNA JULIA VAN DEN HEEVER, and their descendents? My husband is connected through two/three maternal lines. Also intrigued to find that his great-grandmother, SOPHIA WILHELMINA KOCK, married twice, first time to a THOMAS ROBERTS and they had a daughter named SOPHIA MARIA ROBERTS and possibly a son also. Would love to know something about the Roberts family. Go well! Ivy Trott. Go well! Ivy Trott.

Can I be cheeky and ask you or other listers a few more questions. What does 'In COP' mean next to his marriage? Where should I go from here to trace his wife and daughter? Again, thanks for your help and time. I am finding out for sure that the Cape Town list is a really nice and helpful list. 3. Hello Mike Just a quick one - unfortunately you will not be given access to the adoption file unless you are that person. Because it is such a sensitive issue and one does not know what will be found in those documents they are highly restricted. Only the person involved an attorney or a social worker would be given access.
