    3. I like your style Colin! As you say....the problem is serious apart from the real danger of me wrecking my computer in frustration everytime I do a search, the site has been collapsing for a while now. I cannot believe that the department of Arts & Culture does not have the funds to get professional help if their IT department cannot sort it out themselves. Eish indeed!! 3. Thank you Heather. Some time back I found Estate Papers reference for Alan d'Egville STOTT on the Cape Town Archives Repository Database. It is likely he is a brother to Michael though other information found indicates he was the son of Dr William H. and H.A. Stott. Michael's mother's initials were E.M. The UK FreeBMD site has a registration for an Alan d'E Stott born March qtr 1920, mother's surname d'Egville. Birth year fits for Lt. Alan d'Egville Stott of 178 Squadron who was killed over Warsaw Aug 1944 age 24. 3. I read recently that arrangements were underway by the Khoi-San, Khorana, and Nama communities to remember the 500th Anniversary of the "Battle of Salt River" when the Khoikhoi overcame the Viceroy of India, Francisco del Meida and some sixty of his men in 1510 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_de_Almeida). Is there a web link or contact person someone can point me to for further details regarding the date, venue, and programme? I understand it will form part of this year's Day of Reconciliation celebrations in Cape Town. Any information will be appreciated. Colin G Garvie

    3. Searching for any info on a Charles Maclachlan, apparently he had about 9 wives through his life. My great grandmother was a Windsor (not sure of her name) she had 4 children and died giving birth to her last. All four children were sent to an orphanage in Queenstown. All I know is that my gran once told my mom that it was a church orphanage and that she used to sneak out of the window and go into the orchards to steal food to feed her sisters and brother. Their names were Winifred, Charles, Evelyn (my grandmother) and Gwendalyn. Their father was Charles Maclachlan and for whatever reason he did not take the children, they were sent to an orphanage when Granny Windsor died giving birth to Gwendalyn. Does anyone know which orphanage it may have been? Regards Storm O'Neill This message is private and confidential. 2. Vivienne Mann
    3. I am looking for the passenger ship and year my great grandfather, William Cogill, arrived in Cape Town, South Africa from the U.K. He married Johanna Absolom from Madagascar. After her death, he married Margaret Absolom, her sister. Margaret died in 1933. I have an early 1900's family photograph of him with Margaret Absolom and children. I am not sure when he died, but he outlived both his wives.. I am also looking for relatives of the Absolom family.  My maternal grandmother was Josephine Cogill, born 1889, daughter of William and Johanna Cogill. She married George Kayter. We believe he was German, but have no information  other than that he was from Europe. Josephine was his second wife. I don't know who his first wife was. Any information would be most appreciated. Vivienne Mann  (maiden name-Feder)
