I am trying to work backwards with the TURNER family to find a connection with the ealier Turner names in the CAPE before I take my search back to the HULL area here in the U.K. I am just curious about the 86th regiment in general. I know the 83rd regiment was stationed at the Cape of Good Hope. As his wife was with him I assume he was ex army or did wives accompany army men in those days?
