Hi Leslie, I looked up Hancock on the South African Ancestry24.com site - there are 18 pages each with 20 names, too many for me to look up for you. I am sure you will find a lot of information that you are looking for. Click on each name and more info comes up. You may have to subscribe as a member to access all the information, but it is only ZAR195 per year, so very inexpensive compared to the very high annual subscription fees required by many oversease genealoogy sites. http://ancestry24.com/?page=1&group=on&s=search&srchSurname=Hancock&srchName=%20&submit=%C2%A0&collectionID= Good luck! Many descendants South Africa, Canada, West Indies, Lancashire, and some in the USA and New Zealand. Contact me off-list, and I will send you a PDF file. Regards Straffen Short [email protected]

Becky here I hope is a kick start. Edward BARRY married Charlotte HEATH in O'Kiep. 1870. I have a record of that marriage. He had one daughter Florrie.(she is mentioned in his brother David's will) There was a mention of a Florence Barry who married a WEDDERBURN, but I have no details of that nor records. I have the Death Notice of one Cecil GOODISON HEATH in Durban. Born in O'kiep But cannot find any other connection with the above except that Cecelia Goodison was Edward's sister and she died in 1890. If anyone can connect me, I would love it. Sunelia Heath does all the Heath people, but so far we cannot find that chap or the connection. Happy Christmas to all my dear friends on these lists. Patricia Frykberg

Hi Kate, Contact the 2 Cemeteries in Rustenburg and ask them to check the registers for that year. You will then be able to know which Cemetery you would need to go to. The Caretakers are normally quite helpful. I don't think a Death certificate would help in finding the grave site I have just arrived in South Africa and think the only thing to do is to go to Rustenburg myself, (if I can escape my family's Braais). I was wondering if any knows anything about any Rustenburg cemeteries used in 1949, for an Anglican burial or which church would have been attended by English protestants at that time. I have never been to Rustenburg, so any help, in trying to find Harold GODBOLD's grave, would be gratefully appreciated. Kind regards, Kate Crisp I met a lovely lady on the train to London recently, we started talking and she told me her father who suffered with chest problems, had been advised to emigrate with his family, (including her and her sister) to Rustenburg, just after the war. I live in SA. Try Ancestry24, http://ancestry24.com/ a South African geneology site with lots of information and only R195 subscription a year, very cheap compared to other international geneology sites. I would suggest that you contact Heather Mc Alistair who runs Ancestry24, I am sure she would be able to direct you further. I hope you find what you are looking for, Best wishes, Marilyn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kate Crisp" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, November 29, 2010 11:55 AM Subject: Re: [SOUTH-AFRICA-CAPE-TOWN] Harold George GODBOLD died 8th May1949 Rustenburg > > Thank you to the two people who responded. She is 84 and therefore it is quite an urgent search. She is a lovely lady and in the past visitors to South Africa have said they would help her, only to return to the UK saying they were too busy to look. I promised I would do my best and would like to keep my word. I have never been to Rustenburg and know nothing about it, which is why I turned to you all for advice, which has always been invaluable when I was looking for my own family history.
