    3. ANCESTRY.COM PURCHASES FAMILY HISTORY RECORDS FROM MEDIA24 Ancestry.com, the world’s largest online family history resource, has acquired over four million South African records from Ancestry24, the South African family history website. Ancestry.com intends to make the records available to members in the future, adding to the company’s existing 12 billion records that already help millions of people worldwide discover, preserve and share their family history. Anyone looking to find out more information about the records should visit http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry24, as Ancestry24.co.za is officially closed as at 22 Oct 2013. About Ancestry.com Ancestry.com is the world's largest online family history resource with approximately 2.7 million paying subscribers across all its websites. More than 12 billion records have been added to the Ancestry.com sites and users have created more than 50 million family trees containing more than 5 billion profiles. In addition to its flagship site www.ancestry.com, the company operates several Ancestry international websites along with a suite of online family history brands including Archives.com, Fold3.com and Newspapers.com, all designed to empower people to discover, preserve and share their family history. About Ancestry24.co.za Ancestry24 is South Africa’s largest and most comprehensive genealogy website. Consisting of hundreds of databases with millions of records, the online archive and research service aims to preserve South Africa’s history for future generations. The site contains millions of records on individuals who have lived in South Africa since the late 1600s. Transcribed from original documents and reliable resources, records include births, baptisms, marriages, deaths, burials, passenger lists and voter lists. There is also a large grave image library. We regret that this decision may adversely affect many users, but we are excited that South African users will still be served at Ancestry.com. We can’t thank you enough for your support and input.
