    3. Hallo Jenn and all other listers In response to the announcement and press release by Ancestry.com that they have acquired the Ancestry24 database I wrote to them and their answer is clear - what was free on Ancestry24 will remain free on Ancestry.com I append the correspondence hereunder Kind regards From: Heather Erickson [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, October 21, 2013 5:43 PM To: Dennis Pretorius Cc: Petro Coreejes-Brink; Adrian Leighton; Bryony Partridge Subject: RE: Ancestry24 transfer-media announcement [1 Attachment] Hi Dennis, Thanks for your email. I appreciate you forwarding along your inquiry so that we could respond promptly. You’ll be pleased to hear that anything currently free on Ancestry24 (those contributions that have been donated by volunteers for free) will remain free and will not be charged for on Ancestry. This includes the grave images that you referenced in your email. I hope this information helps you. I am also very happy that it has found its way to a reputable company which has the capacity to manage the data. My concern which I wish to express to you today is that data that was made available to donors and contributors to Ancestry24 for free access now find them in a situation that that data which was accumulated by free donations of time and effort will potentially be “sold” by Ancestry.com in future. I therefore would like to establish whether data that was previously accessible without charge on Ancestry24 will that data still be accessible without charge – and in particular my interest lies in the data of the grave images ? I look forward to your response Kind regards Dennis Pretorius Krugersdorp South Africa Tel – 011-762-8911 Cel - 083-679-8541 Fax – 086-609-8541 Dennis Pretorius Krugersdorp South Africa Tel – 011-762-8911 Cel - 083-679-8541 Fax – 086-609-8541 -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Graham and Jennifer Lloyd Sent: Tuesday, October 22, 2013 6:27 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [SOUTH-AFRICA] Ancestry24 Just wonder if all the info that was contributed freely by volunteers, will be freely accessible!!!!
