God knows where this thread started, it was not on this list. I really do wish that people should adopt the best practice of sending queries separately to one list at a time. When the same message gets sent to multiple addresses, the provenance gets all messed up. There used to be a list of all the members on the internet but I cannot find it now. If he was German by birth but became british he most likely followed this route as those nations were not on best of terms in that period. I am trying to locate the ship my gggranfather was on when he landed in SA. His death notice says he was born in Germany but his nationality was British so I am assuming he became British when he landed in SA. My gggranfather name was William Frederick Smith. Any information would be appreciated.
