    3. Hi Karin Thank you - I am really glad to know you find the Johannesburg Directory is of help to you. Have you had a look on Google Maps and by using the street view you can get an idea of the layout of Fordsburg and what the streets look like now. There are still a number of old buildings in the Fordsburg area. I have a few pictures of early Fordsburg (mostly from books) if you are interested, but I'm not sure if there are any photos of those specific streets. You could try posting on one of these sites: https://www.facebook.com/Lost.Joburg or http://www.heritageportal.co.za/ Regards Shirley On 20 February 2014 11:31, Karin Serfontein <[email protected]> wrote: > > > > > > Good morning Shirley, > > Wow, what a treasure trove!!! > Thank you so much, I do appreciate your kindness in sharing this > information. > > My grandparents lived in 39 Loverswalk when my grandfather went to war - WW1 > When they got married in 1911 my grandmother lived in 18 Crown Road and my > grandfather in 46 Nursery Road, Fordsburg. > If anybody have a photo/picture or information to share on those streets, > please be so kind in sharing it with me. > > My grandfather Frederick Ernest Smith remains a mystery before 1911 - I > would love to find something or anything on him. > His father was Alfred Smith. > > Thank you once again Shirley, > > Regards, > > Karin. > > > __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature > database 9447 (20140220) __________ > > The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. > > http://www.eset.com > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hi Shirley, Thank you for your kind reply to my e-mail, I do appreciate it. On one of your postings I have found an F Smith in a pub (President Street), not sure if it is him but I am excited that it could be him??. My focus is now on Johannesburg as I have concentrated on Heilbron where my grandmother lived. Thank you again and again, I might just find my five cent coin on the ocean floor after searching for seventeen years. Enjoy a lovely day, Regards, Karin. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of shirley paladin Sent: 21 February 2014 11:21 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [SOUTH-AFRICA] 1893 JOHANNESBURG Alphabetical Street Directory -JEPPE ST.
