    3. Hello: === http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/south-africa-immigrants-british/2012-04/1333271646 I did find a family of Findlays in New Deer in Aberdeenshire in the 1871 and 1881 census with sons Alexander and Andrew. Alexander b 11/04/1867 and d 1943 Carolina. Andrew born 27/06/1869 and d 20/02/1926 Brakpan. Is this your family?. === Firstly, an excellent post, it seems correctly identified both of these 2 Findlay brothers, place, and dates of birth !!!. There is ONLY ONE PROBLEM here. All the dates and info is correct, except the DEATH DATE for Alexander, [d 1943 Carolina] !!!. This has been added, and is not part of the census look up as such. It has been taken that he is the same AlexF who d:1943 Carolina, and that info added there. Let us just read the same post without and additional info attached to AlexF: === I did find a family of Findlays in New Deer in Aberdeenshire in the 1871 and 1881 census with sons Alexander and Andrew. Alexander b 11/04/1867. Andrew born 27/06/1869 and d 20/02/1926 Brakpan. Is this your family?. === And to Marcella: The answer is .... .... .... feel the pressure .... YES YES YES !!!. OK, you are still in the AndrewF1869 tree with one AlexF1867. That is what the records says, we can not change it. NOTE: AlexF1867 !!!. I currently know nothing further of him !!!. === Then we turn to one Alexander Findlay (46yrs) m:11-01-1918 Matilda Edith Young (27yrs) at Paulpietersburg. Taking the record to be correct: AlexF1871 I will assume he would be turning 47yrs old that year 1918, so he is either born 1871 or 1872. (96% chance to be 1871 !!!). To keep it simple I will call him AlexF1871. If the record is correct, I can't change the fact. [Aberdeen Evening Express Aberdeenshire, Scotland: 24 Aug 1914: BIRTHS, MARRIAGES, DEATHS. London August, 1914, John, son Mr William Graham, 25 Braemar Place, Aberdeen, to Alice M. Findlay, daughter Alexander Findlay, Carolina, Transvaal, South Africa]: This is the dg of AlexF1871 !!!. === Bev: James Findlay b:17-02-1872: [On the gravestone, it is clearly Braemar as in the village of Braemar]: Headstone says: [BRAEMAR, SCOTLAND]. I need to point out here that I was more wanting to point out that this other AlexF1871, since I am trying focus on them as such, I am seeing this AlexF1871's dg m. to GRAHAM lineage in [25 Braemar Place, Aberdeen, Scotland]. If neither AlexF1871 or AlexF1867 are in your tree, then this does not apply to you. Your James Findlay is of [Braemar, Scotland]. The crossing of trees is directed on these 2 AlexF's.... One question Bev: Do you connect to Marcella's tree ?. === I have just got some new info as I type, please bear with me, because I am still missing something here.... B.S. ==========================
