One of the unique things I have is the complete printed set of Capensis. Way back when, when Mansell Upham was the editor (around 2000?), I bought the complete set, and have been a subscriber ever since. It includes the first issue of Capensis, which was simply a newsletter on a single sheet of paper. It also includes the issues that contain papers written by Mansell Upham. He did some incredible research into slaves and early Cape society, and the journal during his tenure as editor is quite remarkable. These issues are no longer obtainable. As I understand it, there has been some sort of copyright argument, and the articles by Mansell Upham are not included on the Capensis CD. But, later this year, you will be able to visit them at the Allen County Public Library! Keith
