Hi Opinion from an Attorney friend - CS 9 Act 16/14 would probably be Contravention of or in terms of Section 9 of Act 16 of 1914. Most likely attesting to a false Affidavit. Rising of the Court means - to the end of proceedings. In effect no sentence at all. Hope that helps Ron Barnard ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Wynne" <jw_email2004-clwyd@yahoo.co.uk> To: <south-africa@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 04, 2011 1:18 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTH-AFRICA] Act 16 of 1914 Thanks, David. I'd managed to find that too, but couldn't see the relevance, or find CS 9 (or any sections, let alone Section 9, if that's what "CS 9" represents). Hi. Can some kind soul please tell me what the "Louvre" is (or was) in Plein Street? I apologise, but I don't know if that is Plein Street in Pretoria, or Cape Town or elsewhere. I have found some of my relative's correspondence with the Office of the Governor General, the Office of the Prime Minister, and the Earl of Athlone (High Commissioner), from the late 1920s. In her letters, she writes about a Mrs Metcalfe of the "Louvre" Pretoria. I have managed to find two references to the "Louvre" in the NAAIRS database, from the Cape Town Archives Repository, which don't appear to be referring to someone called "Louvre" or the Louvre in Paris, or louvre blinds for windows. There are loads of those, but these two seem to be refer to a place or a building or possibly a company in South Africa. I'd be very grateful for any light that could be shed on this.
