    3. Yes, I found, at e-family, some Koekemoer information in the First Fifty Years project, but nothing on his origins. Also, Koekemoer is not in the Familia index. So far as I know there is no evidence (certainly none that I could find) in the records in the Cape archives to suggest any place of birth or any date of birth. I would be interested in your source for the birth date of Maria Putter as you give it above. She was baptised 21 July 1696 but, again so far as I know, there is no source for a birth date. Also your source for JK's death? http://www.ballfamilyrecords.co.uk/kfp/I082.html Yours sincerely, Richard -- Richard Ball, Norfolk, England http://www.ballfamilyrecords.co.uk richard.ball@ballfamilyrecords.co.uk ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SOUTH-AFRICA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SOUTH-AFRICA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SOUTH-AFRICA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SOUTH-AFRICA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hello Keith, KM> I looked at the Familia index and did not find Koekemoer. I do KM> not have the capability to do a text search on the contents. That KM> may help. Thanks. No, I don't have that facility either. As he appears in the muster rolls of 1713 for the first time as a free man http://www.eggsa.org/transcriptions/monsterrollen/1713/mr_1713_intro.htm and the piece that Andre Groenewald quoted (from an unpublished book) is so specific about when he landed and that he was employed by the VOC , I suppose the next place to look would be the muster rolls of VOC employees from 1709 to 1712 (Cape Archives VC 40). These usually do record place of birth and rank. Unfortunately I do not have access to those and the Cape Archives does not allow one to have them photographed. So it will have to rest as unsolved at the moment. Cheers, Richard -- Richard Ball, Norfolk, England http://www.ballfamilyrecords.co.uk richard.ball@ballfamilyrecords.co.uk
