    3. Hi Heather I have tried without success to contact the Transnet Heritage Library & Archives for over a year now. I have used email, snail mail, phones and fax using the details provided below. If anyone has managed to contact them in recent months, please let us know. My understanding based on older conversations on RootsWeb Mailing Lists is that Transnet has dumped (locked up) all these records on the first floor of some building near Johannesburg Station. Due to lack of budget, it does not appear to know what to do with them. Hi Lynn Yes there are - Cape Town Archives if you look under the inventories of the T series in the reading room. Transnet does not hold staff records but has old Magazines that might hold valuable information. Hi Dave I have just recently read an email on the SAR Mailing list from the now retired historian who handed a perfectly good and well referenced SAR history archieve over to to Transnet that the whole archive is now a total shambles without any filing system and documents scattered all over the place. No budget is allocated and no one cares particulary, so history is likely to end up on a dump somewhere. :o( SAR history will become history in a much sadder sense!
