    3. Here is the information [Directory page for Bizana 1913 sent off list] I have about Mr. J.W. Marais, solicitor in Bizana, Pondoland from 1914 onward. I would have to go back to check if he is mentioned in any earlier diaries, but he certainly is not mentioned in any of the Directories that I have, before 1914. One, quite dramatic mention, is in 1917 when there was a terrible accident on the Umtamvuna River when the Resident Magistrate [J.C. Hargreaves] , his brother, and a Mr. Jeans/Geans were drowned, and Mr.Marais was the only survivor. This is written up in the book History of the Wild Coast by Clive Dennison. I have 57 diaries in total to transcribe, and am only up to 1927 right now. They end in 1957. So there may be more comments about Mr. Marais in other years. I have no idea of his age i.e. birth place or date. Does this help? Veronica in Canada
