Along the same lines, I would like to find out details of my grandmother's and grandfather's marriage. Thomas Foley and Lilian Adams. They had 3 daughters in SA. Ellen in 1905, Lilian in 1907, and Kathleen in 1909. They immigrated through Ellis Island, October 5, 1911. Thanks to all, Brian Foley In a message dated 7/14/2011 9:17:28 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, adrianmburns@hotmail.com writes: Dear Listers, I am looking for birth and marriage records for the family of my great great grandfather GEORGE MILLS WYLIE (occasionally "Wyllie") in Kimberley, South Africa. George Mills Wylie was a drapery merchant born in Glasgow in 1855. He arrived in South Africa between 1881 and 1887. I am keen to find record of his marriage to JESSIE DAWSON KERR (also born 1855 in Glasgow, son of FRANCIS ALEXANDER KERR, coal merchant). George and Jessie likely married between 1881 and 1887 in the Kimberley region most likely in a Presbyterian/Scots Church. They were not married in Scotland. They had at four children born in Kimberley. I would like to find record of their birth/baptism, again these would most likely be recorded in a Presbyterian/Scots church in Kimberley: 1. William Mills Wylie (born c.1887/1888) 2. Helen Dawson Wylie (born c.1890) 3. Elizabeth Mills Wylie (born c.1892/1893) 4. Isobel May Wylie (born c.1894/1895) George brought his family back to Glasgow in 1895 where they remained for the duration of their lives. George's death was recorded in the South Africa Magazine on 19 October 1918 as follows: "WYLIE—On September 25, at 537, Sauchiehall Street, Charing Cross, Glasgow, George Mills WYLIE (late of Kimberley), beloved husband of Jessie Kerr. Interred at Cathcart Cemetery." Any lookups, advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Adrian. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SOUTH-AFRICA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
