A copy of The South Africa 1853 Medal is for sale here (in the UK) http://www.stellabooks.com/catalogues/South-Africa~294.htm for a very reasonable price. A number of the British soldiers stayed in ZA and have descendants there. Also, there are lists of the members of the Cape Mounted Rifles.
