Fort Victoria, which is the jumping-off place for the Zimbabwe Ruins, and is south of Salisbury (Harare) and south-east of Gwelo (Gweru), while from there you go south to enter South Africa at Beit Bridge (don't know if that has been renamed). In four years in Zimbabwe over 60 years ago, I only ever went to Salisbury once (for a distant view of the Royal Family during the 1947 Royal Visit), and once to Fort Victoria (on an inter-school holiday exchange trip), and the family also drove through Beit Bridge in 1947/8 for a visit to South Africa, and again in 1949 to return to live in South Africa again. My wife also went to Harare and Masvingo to attend the World Council of Churches Assembly in the late 1990s, and had to endure the sight and sound of the unspeakable Mugabe strutting around with his attendant goons and slagging off the Christian Churches. It's not a place I want to visit again. Andrew Rodger rodgera@audioio.com
