    1. [SOUTH-AFRICA] Does anyone have any information which may help me link my HITGE connections together.

    3. Hi Everyone, Sunelia Heath's wonderful transcriptions have started me on a train of thought and investigation. Today I was able to add into my file the date and place of the marriage of Isabelle Ira Gilmour RUBIDGE to her first husband George Hitge DEACON, who was the eldest son of Samuel Archer DEACON, J.P. and Catherine Mary Ann HITGE. I have to think that there is a connection between Catherine Mary Anne HITGE (for whom I have no further information) and Plestina Blatherwick HITGE born about February 1854 at Willowmore, Cape of Good Hope died 31st August 1920 at Willowmore. She was married to one of my THURTELL relatives, Walter THURTELL to whom she was married on the 2nd July 1878 at the NG Kerk, Willowmore. The reason I feel so strongly that there ha to be a link is that the children of George Hitge DEACON have second names such as Younger; Plestina's parents were George Joseph Roye HITGE (I have no dates for him) and Plestina Blatherwick YOUNGER born 6 August 18?? at Uitenhage, Cape of Good Hope d 6 Dec 1895 Cradock, Eastern Cape. I would be very grateful if anyone can help me complete this link! I would welcome any help to add to and neaten up these family connections. Best wishes, Tombi Peck

    3. Hi Tombi, Tessa has recently provided Deacon info for a Pietermaritzburg family. Doesn't look a close relation but I will forward it to you offline.
