The father was in the RAF and came to SA during the war and returned at the completion of WW11, he married a local lady and they had two children. Morning all and THANK YOU for your responses to the RODWELL name. I received the "box of Pandora's goodies" yesterday and am so excited to help this friend of mine. He has brought me information that boggles one mind. His uncle or gt uncle James RODWELL did a beautiful most amazing scrapbook type of album of his parents 60th wedding anniversary. The art that was done is incredible. Something that should go into a museum. The RODWELL tree begins briefly like this: Charles RODWELL came out to SA from Buckinghamshire, England when he was about 16 years old. He joined the Duke of Edinburgh's Own Rifles in Cape Town and served in the Bantu War 1879 - 1880. Charles RODWELL later went to Bechuanaland and Mashonaland with Sir Charles WARREN holding the rank of Sergeant Major. Charles was the son of George RODWELL and Hannah/Sarah FOWLER. She was the daughter of Charles FOWLER. Her uncle was Sir Thomas Edmund FOWLER and her grandfather was Sir William FOWLER of Margate, England. This is just a bit in a nutshell and more will follow. My request to the list is - when did Charles RODWELL came out to SA and on what ship.?
