    3. Publishing e-books are dead simple really If you have your manuscript in (say) Microsoft Word, all you will need is the software to convert it into e-book format I find that a freeware application called Calibre (http://calibre-ebook.com/) is absolutely the most versatile, as it will allow you to publish in all the popular formats (LIT, MOBI, EPUB and may more). It can deal with Tables of Content, graphics etc with no problems I am not quite sure what you mean by common e-mailing of an e-Book, but zipping the files is the usual way to do it. I am assuming that you do not intend to publish it in protected format such as that used by most e-book online distributors, as that will add another layer of complexity, and need more software. Page layouts and sizes are mostly determined by the device on which the e-book is read. On my PC, for instance, using Mobipoclet (http://www.mobipocket.com/en/DownloadSoft/default.asp?Language=EN). I can generally display two 'pages' simultaneously, the 'page' content depending on the size of the font I choose. On my Sony PRS-650 Reader and my Dell Axim X50v PDA I can also change the font sizes, which will affect the 'page' size as well. Your copyright notice would be included in the publication itself, as usual, but copy prevention is another story, involving Digital Rights Management, and the software measures to enforce it Johann Message: 3 Date: Wed, 29 Jun 2011 04:06:37 +0200 From: "TW" <thewanderer@iburst.co.za> Subject: [SOUTH-AFRICA] eBook Publishing To: "RW RSA" <SOUTH-AFRICA@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <93EC0582FBC84DD7B5A116B28823111A@BartSimon> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Mye Goodye Cosynes !!! I am finally deciding to write two more books, something that has been on my mind for a long time. One will be my own family history. I would like to turn them into eBooks. What software is required, and how does one prevent common emailing of an eBook ?. How the page layouts and sizes work ?. Copyrights, etc. ?. - S.K.M. - [!!!] =====================
