    3. Hi, The only Mary Maria Parry births registered in England anywhere near 1864 are in 1870 (Holborn, London) & 1879 (Weobley, Herefordshire). Was her mother's name a married name? There is only one Mary Rebecca Parry birth registered which was in 1848 (Holywell, Flintshire). Her birth may not have been registered because although official registration started in 1837, it didn't become mandatory until 1875. And I know from my own family tree, that some birth registrations were missed well after 1875. Do you have any other information which might help to find them in the UK census? 3. Thanks Philip, and thanks to the others I heard from and perhaps I haven't replied to off-list. I will have to do some further digging and ask my father if he knows more. I have hit that wall before on my dad's side as well, with the registrations only starting in 1837 - most frustrating, but I guess that's all part of the geneology research, and why we love it and hate it at the same time! Thanks again to all, Wendy --- On Wed, 6/15/11, Philip Curtis <russellf97@gmail.com> wrote: > From: Philip Curtis <russellf97@gmail.com> > Subject: Re: [SOUTH-AFRICA] Parry > To: south-africa@rootsweb.com > Date: Wednesday, June 15, 2011, 12:26 AM > Hi, > > The only Mary Maria Parry births registered in England > anywhere near 1864 > are in 1870 (Holborn, London) & 1879 (Weobley, > Herefordshire). > > Was her mother's name a married name?
