The Bodleian Library in Oxford, UK, holds a set of "Regions Beyond", the journal of the "East London Institute for Home and Foreign Missions" which I was recently able to consult. This organization trained missionaries at Harley House in the East End of London and sent them all over the world, including South Africa. Here is a list of SA missionaries and places mentioned in the journals by date. I have copied the place names verbatim, as written in the journals. March 1879 Charlie Maquba Sitwana American Mission School, Illovo, Natal Mr and Mrs Clarke, Ixopo, Natal June 1879 Mr and Mrs Aitcheson, Ikwesi Lamaci, Natal November 1879 Mr. Anderson, Dysselsdorp near Oudtshoorn Mr R.S. Langford, Dysselsdorp near Oudtshoorn Mr. Atkinson. Dysselsdorp near Oudtshoorn Rev. W. Ed. by mrs. H.G. Guinness. 1878-1888. On request, I can provide more information about each of these people, usually mentioned in an article about the particular mission. Ian van Zyl Canada

Thanks for that - I took the liberty of forwarding it to the missiological list as well. -- Steve Hayes E-mail: shayes@dunelm.org.uk Web: http://hayesstw.tumblr.com/ (follow me on Tumblr) Blog: http://khanya.wordpress.com Phone: 083-342-3563 or 012-333-6727 Fax: 086-548-2525
