Hi again Well I have checked all born Egypt in the census and none fit the bill I also checked Sandringham household for 1871 & 1881 Just household staff and nothing remotely like Ali listed He Maj' is at Windsor with a huge staff but no sign of an Ali or the Prince Not found the Prince in 1871 perhaps abroad Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) Hi Nivard, Thanks for the effort. He was born in Egypt (poss Cairo) and was brought back from there in 1869 by Edward VII, and "installed ad Sandrigham where he served coffee in native dress"! That is all the info I have about him. I would like to try figure out what happenned to him! Chgeers, Karel Marais Marais x Thurnau Lloyd x Pienaar Bennett x Cloete Webber x Maskrey Kapp x Slabbert, Bestbier Du Toit

Dear Jenn If you click on the shortcut in the e-mail, nothing much will happen. You have to right click the shortcut and select "Copy Shortcut" and the paste that into the address bar. That will take you to the relevant document or page. Do you know how to find the references and then the actual DN in general? If not, let me know and I'll post a tutorial for all. I've been fielding a lot of queries regarding this. It is very confusing initially, but then becomes very obvious. These DNs are a goldmine of information. Hi Karel, I put in the information you provided. I came up with only one result for the name Ali Achmet. Alexander ACHMET born about 1854 in Woburn, Stirlingshire. Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, Scotland. This was in the 1871 Scottish Census. Unfortunately you don't get to see the original documents on the Scottish Census. There was a mention of a George ACHMET in the 1911 Census but on Ancestry.co.uk you only get to see the Summary Sheets. I've allowed my subscription to Findmypast to lapse at present so I can't chase this up further. Hi all, I have been studying all the old mailing list e-mails again to make sure I wasn't missing a direction. Antonio da Camara asked a question about how to go about finding a file with a registration number like one that I too was having hassles with. I don't find an answer.... From all the e-mails and replies I'd hoped to find a lead but no. So HELP! Please! I'm looking for Sydney Hurbert EMPTAGE - File .......... Misc 1967. I presume that Misc stands for miscellaneous and the year obviously is 1967 but after that I'm lost. Some time ago some-one who went to the archives did look for the file for me. The folder was unfortunately empty. I was hoping that as the file was listed in the LDS index some-one may well have found the lost 'contents' and refiled them. Thanks a million Lynn
Dear Jean Go to this page: https://www.familysearch.org/search/image/show#uri=https%3A//api.familysearch.org/records/collection/1837900/waypoints Once there, click on "Death registers". The registers are arranged in volumes 1 to 88, and the by year from 1953 onwards. Reference 168/74 would be found in the appropriate 1974 section, while 38/125 would be found in Volume 38. Certain references can be confusing. For example 70/74 can be in either the year 1974 or in Volume 70. Good luck. Keith and Andrew, Thankyou both very much for your reply's. I have Constance and Henry's birth and marriage detail's, plus their relevant UK census information. I was hoping to find what became of Henry in SA; a possible remarriage following Constance's death - the divorce reference Keith kindly supplied indicates a possibility - how can I find details of the marriage? Also when and where he died plus any family he had - I presume Henry died in SA, am I correct in thinking there is no central registration for BMD's?
