I have been reading some of the help etc from FamilySearch - see https://wiki.familysearch.org/en/Zimbabwe_Civil_Registration_(FamilySearch_Historical_Records) There was some info about "MISC" which did not make sense in the example they give but say that it is a "pointer". Am presently reading through some of the pages of the link they give to the Zimbawe Archives via the Ministry of Home Affairs, Zimbabwe on their page at http://www.moha.gov.zw/naz_library.php cheers Pete Whitfield

In a search of the other volumes (not alphabetical) he was listed as DRB 230/69 which I downloaded. I also downloaded the DN for Anne Jesina BOOYSEN DR 47/202 which was image 232 of volume 47. If you would like me to email you these off-list let me know For those who have followed the various threads on this Zimbawe death notice lists it seems from something I saw at the beginning of one of the volumes that the B may be records from the Bulawayo archives whereas the rest may come from the Harare archives. In the listings for the smaller centres (if you select the second link of the 2 given under Zimbabwe) there is one called "Service Personnel" which are the lists of those killed while serving with the forces (army, police, air-force etc). May not be the same Family but I know a Rodwell Family in Cape Town. The father was in the RAF and came to SA during the war and returned at the completion of WW11, he married a local lady and they had two children. Morning List, I am going to assist a friend of mine who has no internet knowledge on how to find his family when they arrived in South Africa. Has anyone done this family line yet? He will be bringing all his information to me shortly where I will assist in putting it in some order for him. Apparently he does have documentation on his parents, grandparents and perhaps gt grandparents as well as some photos. He did mention that he also had a family album with lots of pictures and does not know who they are. So when I receive this, I will be posting it on the list. Take care Glynis
Hi there Firstly Charles Henry Sydney SELFE(* Jan 1876, Eleapore, India. + 27 Oct 1948, Pretoria) His estate file in the Transvaal archives (5464/48) does not indicate any parents. I have managed to find a notice of his wedding on the net: This is a transcription of a column in South Africa Magazine, January 15, 1910, titled Domestic Announcements: SELFE-CAMPBELL-On December 8 (1909), at Pretoria, Charles Henry Sydney, elder son of Lieutenant-Colonel Selfe, of Bedford Park, to Mary Annie, elder daughter of Andrew J. Campbell, Brits Station, near Pretoria (Ellen Stanton, Email: harprulz@bellsouth.net<mailto:harprulz@bellsouth.net>) In this transcription is father is indicated as Lieutenant-Colonel SELFE, of Bedford Park. I would assume that this is Bedford Park in London? (SAG only indicates surnames with the spelling SELF) If that is the case, is Charles Henry Sydney SELFE the progenitor (stamvader) of the SELFE's in South Africa? Andrew Joseph CAMPBELL: This is the father to Mary Annie, who married Charles Henry Sydney SELFE. Mary Annie's estate file thankfully did indicate her parents, and her mother is indicated as: Anna Margaretha Catharina ROOS. Thankfully SAG could give me her mother's ascendants, but I was not as lucky on Andrew Joseph CAMPBELL. I also could not find his file in the National Archives. Any help would be sincerely appreciated! Kind regards Bobbie CROWTHER
Have you ever watched Heir Hunters on the History Channel? We have had heir hunters looking for the heirs of Ignat Bladezki. Two different lots of heir hunters in the UK have contacted us in the last couple of weeks, looking for the heirs of Ignat Bladezki, who died in Coventry, England, in May last year. Our connection is that a daughter of Ignat Bladezki, Franca, married my wife Vals dads cousin, Errol Royden Norman Greene. We met Franca Greene once, about 18 years ago, when she was living in Bryanston with her daughter Courtney, who was then about 14. Errol Greene died in 1980, when Courtney was less than a year old. We chatted about family history, and Franca gave us some details for the family tree. She said her father, Ignat Bladezki, was born in Russia, but had deserted from the Red Army and gone to live in England, so it may not even have been his real name, and he spoke very little about family connections. He married Yola Conti, who died some years before he did, and, according to the heir hunters, he himself died in a nursing home and no one on the staff knew who his relatives were. Weve lost touch with Franca, and Courtney, who must be about 30 now, may have married and changed her name. But wed like to get in touch with Franca again, to let her know that her father has died, and also that she probably stands to inherit a sum large enough to make the heir hunters think it worth their while to try to trace the next-of-kin (they make their money by taking a commission). Franca was Errol Greenes second wife. He had two daughters by his first wife, Dionne and Tracey. They dont stand to inherit anything, but if they can be traced they may help us to find Franca. Franca told us that Tracey had married a Grant Stack. So if anyone reading this knows where Franca or Courtney are, please ask them to get in touch with us. http://hayesgreene.wordpress.com/2011/04/08/looking-for-franca-greene-nee- bladezki/ -- Keep well, Steve Hayes Web: http://hayesgreene.wordpress.com http://hayesfam.posterous.com/ E-mail: shayes@dunelm.org.uk
