    3. Go to www.eggsa.org and read their excellent "how to" guides on genealogy in ZA. Also, for documents at TAB and some other depots they offer a service to photograph documents. SA doesn't do online BMD. Considering the year of death - you can look at NAAIRS - http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm300gi?201108030658377EFD1 182%26DB%3DRSAE I searched for David Hughes 1932 to 1935 and found 3 possibilities - all in the national archives in Pretoria (DEPOT TAB) - not sure where you live but if you cannot go to the archives - you will have to commission a researcher to transcribe/photograph the documents for you. If one of these is your relative - you may well get some useful info from the file to continue with. 3. Hi Gail At my stage of life one has come across "most" surnames and all seem to fit "any" locations. However for what it is worth I believe I am correct in saying that we "young ones" had an apprentice "foreman/guardian" a Mr HARTOGH at the light roller mills of ISCOR Pretoria in the mid 1960's. Unfortunately that is all that I know about him. 2. Colin Pretorius
    3. Hi all With the list-owner's permission, the following announcement: Some time ago I mentioned that I was in the process of digitising the Ferreira book "Stamvader Ignatius Ferreira en sy naverwante". This book is now available on CD from the http://www.cdbooks-r-us.com website. The book - which has both a cultural-historic and a genealogical bent - describes the history of the Ferreira family in Portugal, the arrival of the progenitor at the Cape, and includes a family register. Well documented, this book is an ideal companion for those interested in the Ferreira family. Any queries should be directed to me directly and not posted to the list. Regards Colin
