These would be greatly improved if copied by today's scanner. Mine does a great job. The xerox machine of 1979 leaves much to be desired. Page 7 is a pair of articles from the newspaper. The shorter one is the one I sent you. This is the other one: Macon Telegraph 24 December 1899 DEATH OF HARDY SOLOMON An Aged and Influential Citizen of Twiggs An Uncle of Messrs W. G. , Peter, and Steve Solomon of Macon- Several Years Ago He Made His Funeral Arrangements Mr. Hardy Solomon, aged 93, died in Twiggs County yesterday. The funeral takes place this morning in the old family burial ground at Stone Creek Church. Rev. George W. Tharp will conduct the service. Mr. Solomon was a brother of the late Peter Solomon of Macon, and therefore, an uncle of Messrs. W. G., Steve, and Peter Solomon. He leaves two sons, Messrs. Hardy Lee and Inus, and one daughter Mrs Captain Robinson and a large number of relatives. Mr.Solomon was one of the pioneers of that section and weilded a powerful influence. He held a number of positions of trust and honor, and was always strong and vigorous physically and mentally until withen a very short time of his death., and he contemplated the end of his life journey with remarkable composure. Several years ago he arranged for his funeral and selected Mr. Tharp to conduct the service. He marked the place where he desired his remains to rest and gave instructions as to details. Sunday I asked the cousin who sent them to me where he got them and he said he had been given the copy from the estate of an aunt. He had no idea where she had gotten it. If anyone has an idea where the original is I would be interested in scanning the photographs. Carolyn Ramsay Carolyn
