Rose Jones Dodge County Newspaper Clippings Volume II 1893-1907 Friday, December 24, 1897 KILLING AT COCHRAN Cochran, GA., December 18 - Today at 12:30 o'clock John H. Neel shot and killed P.M. Solomon. The shooting occurred in the most prominent part of the town, and it was all done so quickley and so quietly that half a dozen men standing around knew nothing of the shootin until it was all. The cause of the killing was the refusal of Neel to pay Solomon for some pluming the latter had done for him. Neel, as soon as he saw that he had killed Solomon, quietly put up his pistol and walked to his livery stable, which is located about a hundred yards from where the shooting occurred, secured a Winchester rifle, saddled and bridled a horse, and jumping on it, made his escape.
