RE: Barbara Wright's Post on Lazarus Solomon I am interested in the reference to Lazarus' 1st wife, Sallie Holland. Does anyone have any additional information about her? What is the source of her mention as his first wife. This is of particular interest to me because Holland is used as a feminine first name in the Godwin Solomon family. I had assumed this name came from Godwin's wife, Jane Gaskins, line but the connection intrigued me. Note to Barbara - The reference to Lazarus being born in Washington Cty, NC is well entrenched in the research regarding him. However, there was no Washington Cty, NC in 1765. When Lazarus left NC for GA, he originally owned land in Washington County, Georgia - perhaps that's where the confusion occurred. Lazarus younger brother, James, was born in 1770 in Virginia. The first reference to Peter in the early NC records occurs in 1771. Also, Peter's birthplace is stated in his military records as Virginia. Should you decide to do further research, you might want to check in VA and not limit yourself to NC.
