Hi Roster of Confederate Soldiers does not give his age, but that he enlisted 29/Apr/1861 no further record. Le
You are right Le. Cary Evans Solomon was in the Albany Greys. But the other Cary would have been to old to have been in the service wouldn't he? Of course they did have some old guys in there too. Rose

Hi I have information on him but not in the Macon County Guards he enlisted in Company E. Albany Grays he enlisted 28 Apr/1861. The County was Dougherty, the other Cary enlisted in the Macon County Guards Co. I 29/Apr/1861. So I am not sure if this is the same person. Surely he could not be at two places at the same time. Any help in solving this would be appreciated. I also have information on Delilah Land's first family if anyone is interested. Le

George Solomon (son of Lewis Solomon II) wed Lucy Emory March 24, 1786. Can anyone provide the documented source of this information - is it from a Bible record or county record? Where did this marriage take place? I am interested in learning where George may have been a year after the sale of Peter's land in Franklin Co., NC on March 23, 1785. Thanks for your help -- Nieca
Does anyone on the list know if Lewis Clinton SOLOMON, b. abt. 1846, son of Rev. Lewis SOLOMON and Lucy Ann LINGO was in the Civil War? If so what Company was he in? Thanks, Rose
Hello I have just finished a conversation with Linda Land Wharton she is descended from Delilah Soloman and John Land Jr. they married 1806. She is sending me material on that family and when I receive I will post it to the group for those who are interested. Le
This is in response to Le's post on Lewis Clifton SOLOMON. Thanks Le, I would appreciate you giving Jack Parnell my email address. Ludell and I was discussing the idea that Rev. Lewis SOLOMON's son might be the Lewis Clifton SOLOMON. I knew his name was Lewis but wasn't sure about the Clifton. It's great to learn something about him. Rose
Hello I have been in touch with a Jack Parnelle who is looking for information on Lewis Clifton Solomons he told me that he was the son of Rev. Lewis Solomon. I thought Rose would be interested in contacting him. He responded to a query I posted on the Twiggs County GenWebpage. And I wanted to ask Rose if it would be all right if I give him her address. Le
Hello The line mentioned in the post is mine. Do not know if this obit is my Sturdivant though. Rebecca was born in Georgia in 1802. Could be her brother. Her father might have been named Robert. Not sure. Here is my line. Jacob L. Bateman III or Le, Miriam Oates, Neil Oates, Mamie Soloman Oates, John Thomas Soloman, John Wesley Soloman, John Soloman, Lazarus,Peter, ? . Le
Lazarus Solomon and Elizabeth Bedgood had a son John Solomon and he married Rebecca Sturdivant. This is for the descendants of John and Rebecca. I ordered a copy of the Feb 1985 Vol 23 Issue of the Magazine of Virginia Genealogy. In it there was an Obituary Notice for a person named Sturdivant. I don't know if this person is or ever will be related. But when I saw the name I thought I would share what it said. Rose Obituary Notices from the Virginia Conference Sentinel and Richmond Advocate died at his father's residence in Prince George Co., of consumption, the 25th ult., Dr. Joel B. Sturdivant, in his 33rd. year. A Prince George native, he leaves an aged father and mother, two brothers and a sister. (Signed) James E. Joyner. (V. 1, no. 1, 11 March 1836, p. 4.)

Hi The Albemarle Parish Register 1739-1778 by Rev. William Willis listed Peter Soloman on page 250 as the being made Godparent to Mary Solomon d.b.8/Apr/ 1752, he was made her Godparent in 1753 about the same month and day, by Lewis and Betty Johnson Solomon, now my question is if he were Lewis's son and there Mary's brother would it make any sense to be made a Godparent to her. Can anyone answer this. I do not have this at hand because I lost the information do to computer trouble but I believe Betty Johnson was Mary's mother. Le
Additional possibilities for Mary Solomon: In Sept. 1810 the will of Willis Solomon was filed in Laurens Cty, GA. Evans Andrews (Andress) was named as executor. (Reference Deed 1042 Franklin County, NC - John Solomon to Evans Andrews, also signed by Mary Solomon.) Payouts from the Willis Solomon estate included James Solomon and Mary Solomon along with others. (James Solomon was the son of Peter Solomon of Franklin County, NC). On March 8, 1819 James Solomon was named eligible from Capt. Leroy G. Harris District in Laurens County, GA. On March 8, 1819 Mary Solloman was named eligible from Capt. Leroy G. Harris District in Laurens County, GA. The above were listed as separate entries in the records which led me to believe they were not man and wife. James Solomon (s/o Peter) married between 1805 but his wife died. In 1830 James was in Ware County, GA with 1 male 5-10; 1 male 50-60; 1 female 10-15 and 1 female 70-80. (Could this older female be Mary??) In Laurens County, GA in 1830 was Jonathan Solomon 1 male 5-10; 2 males 15-20; 1 male 40-50; 1 female less than 5; 1 female 10-15 and 1 female 40-50. Comments: I became interested in John and Mary Solomon of NC while trying to resolve the question - where were the children of Peter Solomon in the 1780s?? It appears they remained in the area after the sale of Peters property in 1785 since Lazarus is listed in the 1790 Nash Cty, NC census as a young married. Thus far all I have are more questions: Could Mary have been the widow of Peter?? (My materials indicated she had 4 sons under 21 and a daughter in the NC state census. This could well include Lazarus born 1765 and James 1770). Was Mary actually Mary Long, the wife of John Solomon, son of Lewis Solomon II. The other Solomons in the Peachtree Creek area of Franklin County were proved or believed to be his children - namely James, Peter, George and Elizabeth Wise, wife of Jesse. Since Willis Solomon had ties with Franklin County - was the Mary in his will the same Mary -- perhaps his mother. Another possibility - If both Peter Solomon and his wife died early, his children could have been raised by his brother, John and his wife, Mary Long. Any and all comments welcome and appreciated. Nieca
