Looking for anyone who has a Minnie Solomon in their family. This Minnie married Isaac Fischer and had three daughters that I know of: Mary, Rebecca, and Gussie (my great-grandmother). Don't know of other children. They were probably originally from Prussia, and lived in England before moving to the US (NY). Please get in touch with me if this rings a bell. Thanks, Marie
Searching for the parents and siblings of Julia Solomon, married David Wright, lived in Arkansas, had one son Edward Thomas Wright, b., Sept. 29, 1891, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, moved sometime after that to the area of Gainsville, Texas. Will exchange information. Sandra
I thought this might answer several questions that have been sent to me recently. Thanks, Martha Wooten Solomon List Owner/Host EXPERT GENEALOGY Editor: Jeannette Holland Austin Series: Immigration Subject: Ellis Island Date: August 21, 1999 One of the reasons you might be having trouble locating passenger lists, ship manifests and other immigration records is because immigration laws were not passed in the US until 1819. Even then, they only required the maintenance of limited immigration records. It wasn't until 1882 that all immigration regulations were made uniform. >From approximately 1900 to 1914, 5,000 persons or more were processed through Ellis Island. However, as early as 1855, Castle Garden was an Immigrant Receiving Station. Actually Castle Garden was an old fort which was located on the lower southern tip of Manhattan, operating under the auspices of the state. Clerks recorded names, nationalities and designations of immigrants, thus enabling US Government to keep track of immigrants. In 1882 (when the new law was passed), Castle Garden continued to operate under a contract with the US Government, however, by 1890, due to demand, the facilities had to be expanded. So it was that 27 acres (Ellis Island) was chosen as the new site for a US Immigration Station. The Ellis Island site (Ellis Island.org) offers a museum, publications, as well as other interesting facts about it. You can search the American Immigrant Wall of Honor at http://www.ellisisland.org/. This is a search engine. Just click on Wall of Honor on the homepage of Ellis Island.org. Also, should you have an immigrant to add, it needs to be done before Labor Day. The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. Is developing an exciting new family genealogy facility which is to be housed in the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. The American Family Immigration History Center will use state-of-the-art interactive computer technology to bring the immigration records on ancestors who came to this country as long as a century ago to one's fingertips. Here is where you can do research on your Ellis Island immigrants.

Yes. this is a connection to my JOhn G. Solomon. Eliza was a sister to our James B Solomon. I am interested in sharing information with the person who sent you this message. Feel free to give them my E-mail address. I have several other contacts that I will share with them. Thank you so much. Marilyn Patrick Solomon
Marilyn, I may have found a link for you. This person has recently joined the list, so please respond to the list. You both seem to mention JOHN G. SOLOMON, from SC in your families. I am hesitant to share their address without their permission. Thanks, Martha Wooten Solomon This is part of the message I received: "It's great to be in contact with a SOLOMON. I descend from John G. Solomon ( b. 1796, S. Car.), who married Sarah, maiden name unknown. Their daughter Eliza Ann married John W. Wright. Their daughter Mary Alice was my grandfather Alfred Bennett Roberson's second wife."
Rev. John Wesley and Elizabeth Jane Covington Soloman's eldest son was Emmett Wales Soloman 1851-1933, does any body know if the family had a connection to the Outlaw Josey Wales. Or was this name similar to my thirdgreatgrandmother Price's sister Mahalia Caledonia Kirkland. She was named this so the family could remember their country of origin Caledonia is Latin for Scotland. The second eldest son Wilson C. Kirkland was also given this name. Anyone on the list hopefully help me out. Have also found out that the L in their second son's name was for Henry Land Soloman. I do believe John Thomas was named for his mother's father. The name Thomas at least. Her father and grandfather were given that name. She also had a brother name William T. Covington William may have been named for him. Le
Hello, Does anyone have information (parents, etc.) on a Leveter Johnson Solomon before he moved to Indiana around 1840? a.. On July 11, 1841 he married Katie Wealthy Richardson (born in NY in 1823), in Delaware Co., IN. Their first child Mary E. was born in Ohio in 1845. b.. In the 1850 census he was 28 yrs. old, so that would make his birth year 1822. It shows his birth place as VA. and he was living in Boone Co., IN. c.. The 1860 census he was living in Marion Co., IN and his place of birth as NC. d.. He was living in Delaware Co., IN when the 1870 census was taken. He moved again by the 1880 census, but I have an idea where he might be. The rest of their children were born in Indiana. He was a farm laborer and this probably explains why he moved around. Thank you, Don Solomon
I have a fairly extensive list of Zollman's. I can send you a Gedcom file of the descendents of Adam Zollman. Barbara
