Joseph Solomon, son of Henry Solomon, grandson of Godwin Solomon was born March 7, 1882 per Huxford. On April 17, 1905, he married Avey Solomon in Coffee County, GA. Avie (or Ava) is also listed by Huxford as the daughter of a Henry Solomon. Can anyone identify Avie or Ava Solomon or her parents. Her nickname was "Shug". I am also interested in identifying a Henry Solomon, born @1835 who married Sarah A. Hutto (d/o Isaac) on May 31, 1871. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks - Nieca
There have recently been postings regarding Geraldine C. Solomon d/o of Col. Henry Solomon. There are so many Henry Solomons that I am confused. I assumed she was the d/o of Henry and Lucinda Griffin Solomon but the only children I have listed for them are: Henry Forsysthe, Jr., Virginia, Philoclea, Hartwell, Victoria and Mary Ann. Could someone please provide an update on this family and Geraldine's line. Thanks, Nieca.
Did the SOLOMON researchers that are researching in Twiggs Co., GA. know there is a Twiggs mailing List? Well there is and this is how you can subscribe to it. GATWIGGS-L-request@rootsweb.com Rose
Well my aunt Alice Wells' youngest daughter is going to have her second child, that will make grandchild #13 and their eldest grandchild is going to have one as well that will make great-grandchild # 1. My folks only have three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is three and quite a handful. She spent a week with us and her feet did not touch the ground the whole time the girl was here. She literally bounced around like a Kangaroo. One thing good about grandchildren they get to go home when the day or week is over. I wonder how the Mother of Jesus felt when he turned two or three. Imagine the energy he had. Rose The information I got from Ludell said she was born in 1857. The information from The Macon Messanger said they were married 19/Feb/1856. Here is the section from Marriages and Obituaries from the Macon Messanger 1816-1865 by Rocker 15 Oct 1856: Married on Sunday morning the 5th inst. at the residence of Mrs. Lucinda Pearce in Twiggs Co, near Marion, by the Rev. Lewis Solomon, William H. Beckom, Esq. to Miss Geraldine C. Solomon, daughter of Col. Henry Solomon, late of said county. Also found: 19 Feb 1868: Died at Marion, GA on the 25th of Jan. last, of puerperal peritonitis, Mrs. Geraldine Beckom, wife of W.H. Beckcom in the 25th year of her age; leaves a husband and four children (with eulogy). This is all the obituary has would have been nice to list the children. I do hope this helps some one. I do thank you Rose for all your help. God Bless You and May Your Christmas be Merry and Bright. Can any one in the group give me the names of the children of William Haywood Beckcam and Geraldine CLifford Solomon's children. Her obituary said there were four children, but someone else told me five. This may be of interest to members of our list. Martha "Hi, folks - We've had a lot of reports tonight about a virus being passed around on RootsWeb lists. I have looked into these reports and it does NOT appear that the viruses have actually been sent through our lists. I've included a semi-technical explanation of what I have been able to find out, for those of you who are curious. The only important message here is that RootsWeb's lists are NOT the source of recent virus reports. What seems to be happening is that the current flock of viruses do the following things when they infect a new computer: * The virus sends a copy of itself to everyone in the computer's address book; * It forges its own return address to look like it was sent by someone *else* in the address book; * and it uses the Subject line from a message that was recently sent from that machine. So if an infected person sent mail to BUMBLEROTTER-L@rootsweb.com, the virus might send out mail like this to someone else in the victim's address book: From: BUMBLEROTTER-L@rootsweb.com To: joe@example.com Subject: [BUMBLEROTTER] looking for Fred and Wilma Bumblerotter <http://stuart.messagemates.com/index.html>http://stuart.messagemates.com/index.html Hypercool Happy New Year 2000 funny programs and animations... We attached our recent animation from this site in our mail ! Check it out ! Even though the mail never was sent to RootsWeb, the return address is forged to make it appear as if it came from us. I will continue to work on figuring out if there is anything that we can do about this; in the meantime, please assure any concerned subscribers that subscribing to a RootsWeb list is not dangerous. :-) -- Regards, Tim Pierce RootsWeb.com lead system admonsterator and Chief Hacking Officer"
Is there anyone on the list that knows who Lucinda GRIFFIN's parents and siblings were? She was married to Henry SOLOMON, son of Lazarus SOLOMON. Thanks, Rose
Hi All I just received this information from Barbara Shore who did some Twiggs County Lookups for me. It gives the marriage date for William Haywood Beckam to Geraldine C. Solomon in the home of her mother Lucinda Pearce calls her the daughter of Col. Henry Solomon. Geraldine died 19 February 1868 in Marion Twiggs County Georgia. Anyway read the followinig below. Le Hi Lee, I didn't find a marriage record of William H. Beckam to Geraldine in the Twiggs Co. book I have, but did find it in "Marriages and Obituaries from Macon Messenger 1816-1865" by Rocker. This is probably as close as you will come to having a record of the marriage as the one in Twiggs co. probably was lost in one of the fires that happened in the courthouse there. 15 Oct 1856: Married on Sunday morning the 5th inst. at the residence of Mrs. I don't know if the 1860 Twiggs Co. Census is on the internet--I would guess not. I don't believe that Geraldine's death would be recorded in the 1870 mortality schedule as she didn't die in 1869, but 1868. Hello, I recently received this information when researching another line. Has anyone on the list read this book? What is Clara's family lineage? Information received: "The book, "The Civil War Diary of Clara Solomon: Growing Up in New Orleans, 1861-1862" is edited by Elliot Askenazi and published by Louisiana State University Press, copyright 1995. I found my copy at the bookshop inside the Chickamauga Battlefield visitor's center. I also found (just now) that it's available through amazon.com." Please respond to the list. Thanks, Martha Wooten Solomon

Rose, I have a Willis Solomon from the family of Bennett Solomon and Elizabeth Parker. Willis as born about 1829. I also have a Willis Solomon m. Murick Safely Solomon. This Willis was born abt. 1810 d. 1877. She is the daughter of Bennett Solomon & Ava McGregor....these are not the same Bennett[s]. Martha
Does anyone know where this person fits into the SOLOMON family of GA.? His name was Willis SOLOMON. In the book "History of Laurens County Georgia Volume I 1807-1941" under Early Wills and Marriages. It reads "Solomon, Willis, May 2, 1809-Sept. 5, 1810. w. Nancy; ch. referred to but not named. Exrs.: Evans Andrews, Nancy Solomon. Wit.: Reddin Stringer, Ashley Cawthorn, W. Cawthorn." I was wondering who his parents were. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rose Jones
Family members, I would like to take a few seconds to thank each of those sending inquiries about my graduation...I had a final defense today on my research and do now have the title of Dr. Solomon. All of your prayers and thoughts are appreciated. Perhaps, I can now concentrate on the list and genealogy. Does anyone on the list have the email address for the lady writing a book on the Solomon family? I did receive info from her, but cannot locate her address. Is this author a member of our list? Thanks again, Martha Wooten Solomon
