Martha My information on James A. Solomon is sketchy at best, so could very well be in error-- I would appreciate helpin correcting it. I am in agreement with you on Henry Solomon half brother of Godwin Solomon whose birth I show as 10-22-1836. The Henry Solomon born May 3, 1836 I have as a son of GodwinSolomon and AvaJane Gaskins-- along with 7 other children-- do you have the children of this union?? If so I would appreciate having you send it to me. I do appreciate the Solomon List so much it helps me continue to update and correct my information Thanks again Ludell
This URL doesn't work for me either.
Several people have had problems with the url for the GeoCities search. Try this one and type in the surname. http://www.geocities.com/cgi-bin/search/isearch Martha
Today, I was totally shocked to see that someone had posted current genealogy information on the Internet about me. It was not anyone on our Solomon family, but another line and was posted by someone I have never heard of. Needless to say, I am livid that my mother's maiden name was posted on the Internet. I accidentally found this personal information in a search at: http://www.geocities.com/cgi-bin/search/isearch I would like to suggest that each of our list members search this sight thoroughly to ensure personal information is not posted for your families. Thanks, Dr. Martha Wooten Solomon List Owner/Host
After sending the previous message, I decided to do a search at the GeoCities site for my father's name, as it had appeared in the search for Joel Wooten. This search engine found no listings for his name, even though I found in about 25 pages into the search for Joel Wooten. So, you may have to quickly scan files at this site to see if your information is disclosed. Martha

Discussion time: My files do not agree with information previously posted on the Henry Solomon[s]. 1. Henry Emmett Solomon b. Feb. 1854 m. Sarah A. Hutto b. 8/2/1856 d. 1/5/1941....m. 5/20/1871....Sarah is the d/o Isaac Hutto. Henry E. is the s/o James A. Solomon & Elizabeth Cato.... 2. Henry Solomon, half brother of Godwin Solomon. Henry is the s/o James Solomon & Sarah Rebecca ____. Henry is actually "Henry Peter." b. 10/22/1836 Henry Peter Solomon married several times, but never to Sarah A. Hutto. Wives of Henry Peter Solomon: 1. Rita Ann Mobley b. 1839 m. Sept. 22, 1859... they have 6 children 2. Susan Whitehurst b. 1837 m. April 12, 1873 ...they have 7 children 3. Grace Henderson m. Dec. 27, 1910....I do not have any children recorded for this third marriage.... I do not have these two Henry Solomon[s] born in 1836, but on different dates. Of course, there are a number of Henry[s] in my files, but only the one b. 1836. This line has been thoroughly researched by Dan Worth for several years. You can visit his site at http://www.gsu.edu/~fs01rew/index.htm Any discussion will be appreciated. Thanks, Martha
Greeting to all of our members, The following was found on Godwin Solomon. Does anyone know where Fryer's was located in Telfair Co., GA? "Cherokee Land Lottery 1838 by James F. Smith: Georgia has the distinction of being the only state to distribute parcels of land by lottery. Cherokee land was located in the northeastern part of the state. Over 18,500 parcels were distributed by lottery in 1838. Fourth District, Fourth Section Cherokee; Number 216; Godwin Solomon; residence in Fryer's, Telfair Co., GA; granted previous to the first day of January, 1838." Thanks, Martha Wooten Solomon
Ancestry.com has a free search of these records for a few days. Thanks, Martha Wooten Solomon
Thanks Le for the information on your William L. Solomon. I wonder which family member he belongs to. I just came across the information and thought I would throw it out for the list to check out. Rose
I found something in the book "Palmetto State Roots Transcriptions Vol. I" about a William L. SOLOMON. This was out of the newspaper on August 28, 1862, Augusta, GA. It reads "William L. Solomon, my brother of the 37th Regiment, Ala. Volunteers was born in Talbot County, Ga. Feb. 8th, 1838 and died of typhoid pneumonia, at Tupelo, Miss., June 22, 1862." Could this be the son of John Solomon and Rebecca Sturdivant? Anyone with any information please post it to the list. Thanks, Rose
Hi...I am researching the family of my gggrandfather John G. Solomon, born in 1797, in South Carolina. John G. married Sarah A. Godbold, born 1797, died 1866. Does anyone know the parents of John G. Solomon? Could his father have been CHARLES SOLOMON? Four sons of John G. and Sarah A. Solomon named a son CHARLES....Levi D., William Thomas, Tobias, and Robert. Also, Levi A., son of Levi D.and grandson of John G. Solomon, named a son Charles. These men could have named a son after their grandfather. Also, I found in the records of the Monroe County Marriages, Julia Solomon who married James Wesley Wright on 22 April, 1899. Is this Julia the daughter of Levi D. and Nancy J. Mayo Solomon? And, who were James Wesley Wright's parents? Thank you for any info.
