    2. I did some research a year or so ago to locate Solomons and Godbolts (ds) in SC and AL on census records in an attempt to find a connection between John G. Solomon born in SC in 1797 who reportedly married Sarah Godbold or Godbolt from SC. This is just info and may not help anyone. Marilyn Solomon in Oklahoma NAME STATE AND COUNTY CENSUS GODBOLD, A. I've just gotten back to my Solomon research and was looking through some old messages. We had discussed the possibility of your Hartwell L. and my Hartwell C. being the same person. My Hartwell C. was born in 1801 in S.C. He couldn't have served in the war of 1812, however his father or grandfather could have. I've been doing some research and have a feeling Hartwell C's grandfather might have been Hart. Have you had time to do any more research? I found Hart's name in an index book for Wills of Charleston County, S.C. tonight but the library closed before I could locate the will book and read the will. Maybe it will shed some light on these men. I'll let you know what I find. By the way, congratulations on your Dr. degree. I know that represents a lot of hard work. bonnie solomon --part1_14.bf0fa8a.274cb4d5_boundary--

    3. Bonnie, I haven't ran across any Solomon's with that first name in my line. As far as I can tell my line started out in North Carolina and moved to Scott Co. and Washington Co., VA. Next they went to Clinton Co., OH. My line ended in Henry Co., IN. If I run across anything I'll let you know. Thanks for asking, Don Solomon New Castle, IN

    3. Freda, I believe Leveter Johnson Solomon was born in Surry Co., NC. The people I sure are his parents were John Solomon and Lucy Pritchett, both were born in the late 1790's and married 7 Nov., 1818 in Surry Co. Leveter J. Solomon was the marriage bondsman. Leveter J. Solomon and John Solomon moved from state to state with the following Solomon men; Wesley, Sampson, William and Sells. I first found my ggreat grandfather Leveter Johnson Solomon in Boone County, IN in the 1850 census. The older Leveter J. was first found in the 1810 Surry Co., NC census. But I haven't been able to find the connection I need to prove they are related. As far as I know I don't have any Solomon's in Alabama. Thank you, Don Solomon

    3. Sometime ago, a friend of mine who is a Solomon researcher, descendent of John G. Solomon of Monroe County, visited the Young's Prairie Cemetery and sent me the Solomon and Wright names that he found. I thought others on this list may be interested. I would like very much to identify all of the people. I am underlining the names of those whom I know. If anyone recognizes any name, please write to me. I understand that some of the Wrights in Old Texas, Alabama, after the War between the States, put a sign "GTT" on their front doors, and moved to Texas. Some returned to Old Texas later. 3. Recently, on the Evers web page, I found the following info: Peter and Margaret Stark Margaret probably born in Morris County, New Jersey. Son John Solomon married 22 December 1795, Cressey Wrenn, born probably in North Carolina. John and Cressey's son John G. Solomon, born 3rd january 1797, Nash, North Carolina, died after 19th May??? Does anyone on this List recognize the above names? No source of data was given. I would like very much to know if the above John G. Solomon is the John G. Solomon who lived in Monroe County and who married Sarah (Godbold). Also, would still like to learn the source of John G.'s wife Sarah's maiden name. On another pagae, someone gave her the name Sarah Godbold. I also just read that John had a brother Thomas who also married a Godbold. Help!! John G. and Sarah Solomon are my gggrandparents. Would be so exciting to learn that all of the above refers to my family who lived in Monroe County. 1. Peter Solomon
    2. RE: Oct 24, 2000 post by Ted and Freda Noble Peter Solomon & Margaret Stark -- John Solomon & Cressy Wrenn -- John G. Solomon 1797 SC I read your post with most interest - this is the first hint I have ever seen for the wife of Peter Solomon. I would be very interested in accessing the Internet site where you found this data - could you please provide that site address? I am a descendent of Peter Solomon. Interestingly my g grandfather is also John G. Solomon. His full name was John Godwin Solomon, s/o Godwin, he was born in GA in 1848. John Solomon and Cressy Wrenn were married December 22, 1795 in Franklin County, NC - bondsman was Alexander Wrenn. The timing would have been right for your John G. to have been born in 1797. There were two separate groups of Solomons in Franklin County at this time. The descendants of William Solomon, s/o of Lewis I, lived northwest of Louisburg. Some of the children of Lewis Solomon II, also s/o of Lewis I, lived southeast of Louisburg, near the Nash County line, around Peachtree Creek. The children of Lewis in Franklin included: Peter, George, James, John, and Elizabeth Wise. There was also a neighbor named George Wrenn (also spelled Renn). From Lewis II's will, we know his daughter, Winnifred, married a man named Wren. I have not found proof that George above was her husband. He is however involved in deed transactions with the family. In the early census of NC, Lazarus Solomon, son of Peter, is living in Nash County, next to Carey Solomon (perhaps brothers as Lazarus later named a son Carey). In the early 1790's, Lazarus and his brother, James had settled in Georgia. Lazarus first bought land in Washington County, GA and later appears in the Laurens County deed records before finally settling in Twiggs County. There was also a Willis Solomon who died in Laurens County in 1810 with ties to the Franklin County Solomons. There was also an Abraham Solomon in Laurens; however, to date, I don't know how Willis or Abraham fit into the Solomon family. The will of Willis mentions Evans Andrews who also witnessed a deed transaction for John and Mary Solomon in Franklin (John was the s/o Lewis II, wed Mary Long). I hope this is not too confusing. I'm sure it's overwhelming if you are hearing it for the first time. Do you have any further information on John G. of SC. Have you had an opportunity to do any research in SC. Do you know where in SC John G. lived? Hope to hear from you soon. Nieca Sharrard

    3. This will help you in your question on the William Solomon and Frances A. Smith that married in Muhlenberg Co., Ky. I'm descended from this couple. Francis A. Smith is the daughter of Perrin and Susanna Smith. She was born 9 Sept 1804, most likely in Sumner Co., TN. There is a sister of her's named Elizabeth "Betsy" Smith that married a Daniel S. Willis in Sumner Co., TN in 1809. Then the rest of the Smith family appeared in the 1810 Census in Muhlenberg Co., KY. In the 1820 Census there, Perrin had died and the widow Susanna was living next door to an Aaron Solomon. I have no proof right now that Arron was William's father, but there was a son of the correct age living with him and I am ordering some copies of Solomon lawsuits over inheritances that may clear it up soon. William married Frances on 2 Nov 1820 and their first son, Perrin L. Smith was born in Kentucky in 1822. All of their children after that were born in Gallatin, Sumner Co., TN. William Solomon was the Mayor of Gallatin, the county seat, in 1840 and 1846-7 and a merchant, his son Perrin was a major in the War with Mexico and U.S. Marshall in San Francisco, his son William Huston Solomon was a lawyer, his daughter Mary was the wife of General Wesley W. Pepper who was in the State legislature and a judge, his daughter Julia married Joakim "Joe" Green a merchant in Robertson Co., TN (my ancestors). Several of his grandchildren were were lawyers or married lawyers. The result was that there are 43 Solomon lawsuites, mostly regarding inheritances, among the Loose Records of Sumner County at the Sumner County Archives. I'm ordering 5 of the lawsuits that look the most informative and hope they give William Solomon's parents and siblings. His will, which isn't located in any other archives or books is included it . I suspect several of the Solomons in Tennessee may be relatives of his. But....WOW! The first lawsuit is 186 pages :-) There are 259 pages in just those first 5. There is bound to be something interesting in there. Only problem is that the total cost of just the 5 is $147. :-p I will post whatever Solomon information I glean from this lawsuit novel when I get it and finish reading it all. If you want more information on this William Solomon family, go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnsumner/fawisol.htm Robbie ----- Original Message ----- From: Harold Solomon <hsolomon@pdq.net> To: <SOLOMON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 11, 2000 8:44 AM Subject: Solomon > William and Diana Gordon Solomon of Franklin Co., NC had sons that > immigrated to TN.
