Ancestry online images contains the following info on Arnold Solomon, alias Arnold Tucker. From which line is he descended? I am also interested in his use of an alias and why this might have occurred. Please respond to the list. Civil War Pension Index: Arnold Solomon, alias Arnold Tucker image #1900 filed in GA Widow: Susan Solomon Other info: H103 USC Inf. It appears his widow applied on June 12 {the 12 is unclear] 1899. In the second copy online it seems the application was made June 11, 1899. I am not sure why there are two copies of this application online. Both applications contain the info about his alias of Tucker. Thanks, Martha Wooten Solomon

I have reason to believe that my grandparents, Bernard and Blanche (Blime) Solomon arrived in the US in 1904. They came from Romania, were in France long enough to have two children, then came to the US. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might quickly find passenger lists for 1904. Thanks. Does anyone know of a Samuel Solomon who was a missionary for the Presbyterian Church in Riverside County, California in the first decade of 1900? He worked with Indian and Mexican people through an orphanage and was instrumental in finding a home for a young brother and sister whose mother died giving birth to a half brother. Their step father left them at the orphanage in about 1907. It is believed that the children were either Apache or Yaqui Indians from Phoenix, Arizona. The older, Josephine, was placed with a family in Los Angeles and the younger, Alexander, was placed with a family in San Diego. In 1966 Alexander and wife made an attempt to locate Samuel Solomon to find out about any of Alexander's parentage and birth records, but to no avail. It is assumed that Samuel died before then. Anything else about Samuel is to unknown to me. If anyone knows about this Samuel and if he has left any writings at all about these children, I would be so greatful to hear from you. In the search for my gggrandfather John G. Solomon's parents, I found Henry Solomon and Hartwell Solomon in the BLM records. Henry owned property in 1847 and 1850, and Hartwell, 1837, in Greenville, Al. Does anyone have the parents of Henry and Hartwell? Are they brothers? Do they have a brother John G.? My gggrandfather was John G. Solomon, born 3 January 1797, supposedly in South Carolina. He married Sarah. John and Sarah had at least twelve children: Robert, Tobias G., Mary Caroline, Eliza Ann, John Abraham, Sarah A., Amanda Mariah, Ellen Elizabeth;, James Benjamin, Leonard Jordan, William Thomas, and Levi D. The family lived in Monroe County, Al. My gggrandmother may have been Sarah A. Godbold, but we have no evidence of her parents' names. John G. was called "Jack," according to one researcher. Their daughter Eliza Ann was my ggrandmother. She married John W. Wright. John W. and Eliza Ann had at least eleven children. I would like to correspond with anyone who has info about this family. Will be happy to share my information. I am completley stuck looking for any information regarding my great-great-grandfather Gustov SOLOMAN in St. Louis. I show him in an 1860 census with with Lena. Next I find a Lena SOLOMAN, widow in the 1870 census with children Julies, Robert and Augusta. These children would be half-siblings to my great-grandmother, Rosa SOLOMAN. My Mother told me that Roas was born in Hamburg and that her Mother died and she and her sister were put in a Catholic convent. One of the sisters died at some point and her father sent for her. My great-grandmother was born June 4, 1847. They had been Jewish but the woman Gustof married in St. Louis was Catholic. According to my Mother, at some point, the sons moved to Chicago. Gustav was in some kind of jewlery business in St. Louis. I found a Gustov SOLOMON IN THE 1864 city directories as a watchmaker. I have not been able to find any further information regarding Gustov. I would think somewhere there might be a death record or a record of his marriage to Lena or something more about his business. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Suzanne Weisfield Seattle, WA
