Has anyone used the AA time machine app - and what's your experience? To expand ... Spotted in the Sunday Times App List for iPhone/iPad under 'Reference' the "AA Time Machine" app. The blurb says you can download Ordnance Survey maps for 1816, 1897, 1919 and 1940. The charging structure seems a bit pricey - starts at 4 tiles (a tile = approx. 4 square miles) for £1.99. As the majority of my ancestors are located in a relatively small area of Southwark in the early, mid 19th Century, it just might be worth it. If I proceed, I would be using the app on an iPad. The 1940s ones are available for free at http://www.npemap.org.uk/ These and many of the earlier ones can be viewed for free at http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/, though in a less easy to navigate format. So what does the app offer that that can't be download for free from the web?
